Huckleberry Finn reviw

" You don't know about me without you read adventures of Tom Sawyer, but that aint no matter'. Wow! I don't know what to say about this book it was not fabulous, nor was it really bad. I think this book was average. The 3 reasons why I think that are the connection between Huck and his Father, language, and the slavery in the story.  The language was freighting, but It explained what was going on in that time, I think the connection between Huck and his father was great because they showed the real stuff that was going on then, and lastly I picked slavery in the story because that was one of the main things going on in the story.

First, just when Huck is learning to read and stuff, and go to school his father shows up and makes an ass out of himself by yelling at his son, tying to stop him from going to school, and beats him. Huck's Pap who in my mind is a retard won't stand for his son trying to be better than him. While Huck likes being out in the country he isn't real cool about the beatings his father gives him. But he really doesn't want to go back to living with the Widow Douglas and Miss Watson, either. So Huck does what anyone would do he kills a pig and uses the blood to help fake his own death. Why, I did the same thing to get out of gym class. Who the hell wants to play Soccer?     

 

Second, I liked the language. I liked the language because it was real and that was the way they talked back then and I loved how the author made it seem like you were really there. I also liked the language because it was showing the 1850’s. In that time period there were slaves and slave catches and all that, so I liked the language because it was really true and 100 percent how they acted and spoke.

Finally, I picked slavery because they really showed how it really was and what African Americans went through. In the story they used the word n***** a lot but in one chapter, chapter 2 they used many times here is a quote from the story, “N****** would come miles to hear Jim tell about it and he was more look up to then a n***** in that country”. I think that this is a good example because they are using Jim as a leader of his people because people came to him and asked him for help, and they needed someone like Jim to do that.

  

To wrap things up, this was a good story and it explains how it was in the 1850’s and how it was back there your glad that you did not live during that time period if you were black. I thought this book was good for three reasons, the connection between Huck and his father, the language, and the slavery in the story. Huck Finn stood up for something against society that if someone found out he could get in a lot of trouble, have you ever stood up for something that you believed in to go against society?
